Weygandt Finishes Third, No. 12 Women’s Swimming Earns Five All-Americans on Night Two

INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 12 Swarthmore College women's swimming team added five more All-American accolades on the second day of the NCAA National Championships. 

Quinn Weygandt headlined the night with a third-place finish in the 400 IM, securing her fourth career All-American accolade in the event. She became the first swimmer in Centennial Conference history to accomplish the feat, and holds the three highest all-time finishes in the event. Weygandt sits at the halfway point of the championship meet with 10 All-American selections in her career. 

Genine Collins, Riley Bacinski, Sam Packard and Elle Anthony closed the night with All-American second-team distinction in the 200 freestyle relay. Collins earned her third All-American swim of this year's championships and 13th of her career. Anthony increased her career total to 11, while Bacinski and Packard enjoyed their first career All-American feats. 


HOW IT HAPPENED
- Weygandt became a four-time All-American in the 400 IM, grabbing third overall for her highest career finish in the event. The senior raced to a time of 4:20.86 in the finals, finishing just two tenths-of-a-second off the champion. She is the first swimmer in conference history to secure four All-Americans in the event and holds the three highest career finishes. 

- The 200 freestyle relay of Collins, Bacinski, Packard and Anthony finished ninth overall to garner second-team distinction. The relay won the consolation final with a time of 1:32.43 and secured its third-straight All-American swim in the event. 

- Bacinski raced in the 100 butterfly prelims with a time of 55.93. The rookie standout placed 25th overall out of 49 competitors. 

UP NEXT
The Garnet return to action tomorrow for day three of four. The team will compete in the 200 medley relay, 200 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke and 800 freestyle relay.
