PHILADELPHIA – Swarthmore College's
Genine Collins was named the Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Women's Swimming & Diving Performer of the Year this week. Collins was joined on the Academic All-Area Team by teammate
Quinn Weygandt, who earned Performer of the Year honors herself last year.
It is the second consecutive Academic All-Area selection for both athletes. The team is nominated and voted on by the athletic communications offices of 30 colleges and universities in the Philadelphia Metropolitan area.
Collins earned six All-America honors at this year's NCAA Division III Championships, where she was the runner-up in the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle while helping Swarthmore finish 11
th in the team standings. Collins is now a 15-time career All-American and the school-record holder in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events as well as being part of four school-record relay teams. This year, she earned first team conference honors in four events as the Garnet won their fifth consecutive Centennial Conference title.
Weygandt garnered four All-America honors at the NCAA Championships, finishing third in the 400 IM. She was named both the Centennial Conference Swimmer of the Year and the Centennial Championships Most Outstanding Performer for the third year in a row, helping lead Swarthmore to its fifth consecutive conference title. Weygandt earned All-Centennial First Team honors in the 800 free relay, 200 IM, 400 IM, 200 fly, and 400 free relay. She graduates as the conference and program record holder in the 200 IM, 400 IM, 400 free relay, and 800 free relay while also holding school records in the 200 free and 200 fly.
