KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Swarthmore College women's soccer team continued its rise up the national rankings on Tuesday, jumping two spots to No. 15 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll.
The Garnet increased their win streak to five with a 4-0 shutout of McDaniel College on Saturday. Swarthmore received goals from
Lauren Lior,
Charlotte Carleton,
Celia Kanellakos, and
Ava Gizzie.
Dahlia Bedward and
Lila Travers combined for the clean sheet in goal, the fourth consecutive and eighth of the season for the Garnet.
Swarthmore's shutout percentage of .727 leads the Centennial Conference and is ranked 12
th in Division III. The Garnet are also 22
nd in the nation in goals against average (0.455) and corner kicks per game (7.09), 24
th in winning percentage (.818), and 25
th in shots per game (21.00).
Kanellakos has netted the game-winning goal in four of Swarthmore's eight victories, ranking sixth in the country in that category. She has produced five goals and 13 points this season, which trails only Gizzie's seven tallies and 14 points on the squad.
The Garnet travel to Muhlenberg College on Wednesday.
