Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 19 Women’s Soccer Overpowers Mount Aloysius for Fourth-Straight Win

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The No. 19 Swarthmore College women's soccer team cruised to a 2-0 victory over Mount Aloysius on Monday night. The Garnet have won four-straight games with shutouts in their last three contests.

Ava Gizzie and Isabella Specchierla provided the scoring in a 2-0 victory. Gizzie found the back of the net for the fifth-straight game, recording a team-leading six goals during the stretch, while Specchierla achieved her first collegiate goal.

The Garnet dictated play with a commanding 35-2 shot advantage and a 16-1 edge in corners. Swarthmore's attack lit up the net with 21 shots on goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nicole Jensen showcased her gifted passing ability as she made several magnificent plays in the opening half. In the sixth minute, the sophomore weaved a perfect touch through a crowd of three defenders to feed the ball to Charlotte Carleton at the far post. Carleton connected on the pass, but had her shot stopped by the keeper.

- Gizzie put the Garnet on the board first with their sixth goal in the past five games. The junior received an excellent feed from Jensen, which broke one of the region's most dangerous scorers into free space. Gizzie then used their incredible ball-handling ability to force the keeper out of the net, before burying a strike past the helpless netminder.

- Jensen threatened again after Liesel Blau chipped a perfectly placed ball over a trio of Mounties. The crafty sophomore received the pass cleanly, and then tried to touch the ball to herself to beat a pair of defenders. However, the keeper stepped up and sniffed out the play, as Jensen ran out of runway in the 18th minute.

- Swarthmore maintained pressure the entire opening half, shutting down the Mount Aloysius attack. In the 42nd minute, Specchierla notched her first career goal to add to the scoring. The senior connected on a corner kick from Celia Kanellakos to tap the ball past the keeper, making it 2-0.

- Moments later, Specchierla nearly connected on her second-career tally just moments after celebrating her first goal. Lauren Lior set up her teammate with an exceptional feed, but Specchierla was robbed on a heads-up stop by the Mounties' keeper.

- Coming out of halftime, Eloise Franz made a heads-up play to deny the opponent a scoring chance. The senior defender headed a Mounties shot attempt out of play after the offense lured the keeper out of position. Mount Aloysius only had one other shot the entire night, coming in the final seconds of regulation.

- The Garnet had an opportunity to showcase its depth in the second half, while still maintaining consistent pressure on the Mounties. Anwen Reed and Lauren Roche pressured the Mounties with a pair of shots on goal, respectively. Swarthmore outshot its opponent 17-2 in the second half.
