SWARTHMORE, PA. - The Swarthmore College golf team claimed the team championship at the RPI Collegiate Invitational with a five-stroke advantage over the runner-up NYU on Monday. The Garnet carded a team score of 294 (+10) to win its second tournament of the season.
Swarthmore placed five golfers inside the top-20 with
Michael Yuen tying for second overall to pace the Garnet.
Phillip Kim and
Frank Zhou tied for fifth overall, while
Dylan Zhang and
Max Ash placed 13th and 18th, respectively.Â
The Garnet B team also returned to action, finishing sixth overall at the Golden Oaks Invitational.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Yuen added to a strong opening round with a one-over 72 to finish play. The rookie totaled five birdies as he gained four positions in the standings. He finished the tournament at three-over to tie for second place.Â
- Kim and Zhou tied for fifth overall at five-over for the tournament. Kim climbed 14 positions in the standings with an exceptional final round, shooting an even par with three birdies. Zhou carded a 77 (+6) with two birdies.Â
- Zhang finished 13th overall at eight-over-par. The senior ended the tournament with a 74 (+3), totaling four birdies for the round.Â
- Ash improved in the standings, wrapping up play in 18th place at 11-over-par. The junior shot a 77 (+6) in the final round with three birdies.
Judah Fulchiero rounded out Swarthmore's competitors in 64th place, shooting an 83 (+12) in the final round.Â

Alex Lyu and
Phelps Wang tied for 17th place at eight-over. The rookie shot a 76 (+4) for the round, while Wang shot an 82 (+10).Â

Harrison Stracks finished play in 22nd place. The first-year finished with a 79 (+7) after opening the tournament with a 78 in the first round.Â

Thomas Bundy had a strong performance, carding a 79 (+7) to finish 32nd.
Neil Zhu shot an 83 (+11) for the second-straight round. He tied for 38th overall.Â

Bori Chung wrapped up action on the women's side. She placed 31st on the final day with a 99.Â
