NEW ORLEANS – The Swarthmore College women's track & field team had four athletes combine for six All-Region performances during the outdoor season.
Tate Garcia posted two All-Region marks in the discus and shot put while
Hannah Swale also had two All-Region nods in the javelin and heptathlon.
Sophie Goodwin (3000 meter steeplechase) and
Lydia Morris-Kliment (discus) also were All-Region honorees.
To be named All-Region, an athlete must have a top-five performance in the region in their respective event.
Garcia ranked third in the Metro Region in the shot put and fourth in the discus. She posted a personal best of 41' 7.25" (12.68m) in the shot put to place second in the event at the Bill Butler Invitational. She went on to win the shot put at the Centennial Conference Championships. Garcia also had a personal record in the discus, finishing fourth at the Paul Donahue Invitational with a throw of 131' (39.94m).
Swale was third in the region in the heptathlon, compiling a personal-best 4149 points to win the title at the Centennial Championships. It was her second consecutive All-Region accolade in the event. Swale also won the javelin at the conference meet with a toss of 121' 8" (37.08m), which was fourth-best in the region.
Goodwin ran the region's third-fastest time in the steeplechase, clocking in at a personal-best 11:24.26 at the Centennial Championships.
Morris-Kliment produced a personal record in the discus at the Lions Invitational. Her mark of 141' 9" (43.20m) took first place at the meet and was second in the region. Morris-Kliment went on to win the event at the Centennial Championships as well.
