Wilson Breaks Centennial Record Again, Men’s Swimming Handles Ursinus in Dominant Win

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's swimming picked up another Centennial Conference win with a 231-67 victory over Ursinus College. The teams swam the first half of the meet on Friday at Ursinus before wrapping up action this afternoon in Ware Pool.

Cami Wilson was the star of the meet with another record-breaking swim on Saturday afternoon. The junior broke the Centennial Conference 100 butterfly record for the second time this season, while posting the fifth-fastest time in Division-III swimming. Wilson also broke a pool record and was a member of a record-breaking relay on Friday at Ursinus.

Ham Williams-Tracy combined for four wins in an impressive weekend. The senior won the 500 freestyle, 1650 freestyle and 200 IM. He was also a member of the first-place 200 freestyle relay, which set an Ursinus pool record and raced to the 10th fastest time in program history.

FRIDAY
HOW IT HAPPENED

- Swarthmore claimed the top spot and a new Ursinus pool record in the 200 medley relay. The team of Matvey Ivanov, Cole Griscavage, Jake Zarak and Wilson beat out the Bears with a time of 1:32.05. 

- Williams-Tracy won the 500 freestyle with a new pool record. The senior beat out his challenger by three seconds with a time of 4:40.71. 

- Wilson broke a pool record in the 100 backstroke time trial with a 49.47 mark. The swim places Wilson in the top-20 nationally, but narrowly missed the NCAA B cut time. Wilson's effort ranks second all-time in program history. 

- Jacob Sherman raced to a pool record in the 400 IM with a 4:12.38 finish. The senior beat out Ursinus' Jonah Kasznay by two seconds, who previously held the pool record in the event. 

- The Garnet wrapped up Friday's action with another pool record in the 200 freestyle relay. The team of Wilson, Griscavage, Omar Ebied and Williams-Tracy touched at 1:23.81 to beat out the Bears. The swim ranks 10th all-time in program history. 
 


SATURDAY
HOW IT HAPPENED

- Wilson took down his own conference record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 47.98. The junior ranks fifth in the nation after improving his previous best by two tenths of a second. His most recent mark placed under last season's NCAA invite time. Jake Zarak (51:74) and Levi Tipton (52.31) took second and third in the event. 

- Williams-Tracy opened today's action with a first place finish in a highly-competitive 1650 freestyle. Williams-Tracy touched first with a life-time best of 16:32.04 to beat out his Ursinus' challenger by two seconds. Theodore Kim grabbed third for the Garnet at 16:36.07, which was just four seconds off the winning mark. Williams-Tracy's swim ranks 10th all-time in program history. 

- Andrew Hendrickson won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:44.72. He was followed by Tipton (1:45.17) and Mateo Smith (1:46.33) as the Garnet swept the top-five finishes. 

- Lester Wessels came out on top in the 100 backstroke with a time of 52.64 to narrowly beat out Sherman (52.68) by two hundredths of a second. 

- Griscavage led the field in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 57.22. Will Trone trailed the senior in second place at 59.20. 

- Sam Peterson had the fastest time in the 200 butterfly with a 1:53.47 mark. Dylan Ling took second for Swarthmore at 1:56.60. 

- Damian Rene beat out one other Ursinus competitor in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.03. Griscavage then secured a top finish in the 100 freestyle at 46.42 for his second win of the afternoon. 

- Swarthmore went 1-2-3 in the 200 backstroke. Dylan Herink led the pack with a time of 1:52.64, while Sherman (1:53.19) and Kim (1:56.65) followed in order. 

- Omar Ebied won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:11.12. Trone, who led the way in the opening heat, placed second overall at 2:12.58.

- Williams-Tracy became a three-time winner with a victory in the 200 IM. The senior touched at 1:56.16 to beat out his challenger by three seconds. 

- The Garnet closed out the meet with the top-two spots in the 400 freestyle relay. Griscavage, Tipton, Ling and Ebied combined for a top finish with a 3:09.52 mark.

The Garnet (4-2, 4-1) return to Ware Pool in the new year against Johns Hopkins University on January 18.
