Wang Cards Program-Low Round at Mason Dixon Collegiate

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's golf team is tied for second overall after the opening round of the Mason Dixon Collegiate on Saturday. Swarthmore and Franklin & Marshall both shot three-over-par to sit two strokes behind Gettysburg College. 

Yuxuan Wang put together a historic round to lead the field on Saturday. The sophomore finished six-under-par with a program-record 66 for the lowest round in team history. Wang enters tomorrow's action with a three-stroke lead over second place.




HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wang's historic performance earned him the top spot on the individual leaderboard after the opening round. The sophomore carded a program-record 66 (-6) with six birdies and one eagle for the round. Wang shot five-under-par on the back nine, which included back-to-back birdies followed by an eagle. 

- Chad Kemmerer sits just outside the top-10 after his best performance of the season. The senior shot one-under-par with a 71 to tie for 11th overall. Kemmerer combined for six birdies to open action. 

- Max Ash finished two-over-par with a 74 in the opening round. The sophomore birdied twice to tie for 24th overall. 

- Andy Xin tied for 63rd overall to open the tournament. The junior carded an 80 (+8) with one birdie for the round.

- Judah Fulchiero rounded out Swarthmore's competitors with an 84 (+12) for the round. He currently sits in 81st overall.
