Women’s Track & Field Posts Several Runner-Ups at Coach I Invitational

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's track & field team returned to action with a handful of runner-up finishes at the Coach I Invitational on Saturday.

Sophie Goodwin paced the Garnet with second place finishes in the 400m run and triple jump, while Trelstad and Caroline Hill both tied for second place in the high jump. Goodwin also recorded a personal record in the triple jump.  

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore cleaned up in the high jump with three athletes earning top-four finishes. Trelstad and Hill tied for second overall to lead the trio with a 1.50m height on their second jump. Hannah Swale then followed in fourth place with a 1.45m effort. 

- The Garnet put together a pair of top-three finishes in the triple jump. Goodwin placed second with a personal record of 10.60m, while Swale trailed with a 10.27m mark. Hill also placed fifth in the event with a 9.66m effort. 

- Goodwin also earned a runner-up finish in the 400m run. The first-year crossed the finish line at 1:03.30 as she narrowly fell to the leader by a fraction of a second. 

- Agyei just missed her third-straight week with a personal record as she posted a top distance of 14.29m in the weight throw. The junior placed third overall and has recorded a top-five event finish in all three meets this season. Megan Bickford then took seventh overall in the shot put with a 9.42m throw, while Agyei followed in eighth with a best effort of 8.99m. 

- Swale continued her busy afternoon with a fourth-place effort in the 60m hurdles. The sophomore finished second among Division-III competitors with a 9.97 effort.

The Garnet return to action next weekend at the Bison Open and McElligott Invitational.
