Wilson, Karpenko, Freeman Headline Night Three as Men Look to Repeat

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's swimming team maintained their lead on the third night of the Centennial Championships on Saturday. 

Cami Wilson highlighted day three with an incredible showing in the pool. The first-year opened the day with a conference and championship record in the 100 butterfly prelims before going on to win gold in the night session. Wilson also on another gold medal on the day as a member of the 200 freestyle relay. He has three golds and one silver medal on the weekend. 

Andrew Karpenko and Ben Freeman also continued their dominance in their respective events as each swimmer picked up another individual gold and NCAA B cut. 



HOW IT HAPPENED
- The 200 freestyle relay of Ben Wesley, Wilson, Ethan Marotte and Vijay Chhabra opened the night with a gold medal. The team earned an NCAA B cut in the event as they set a new program record. Swarthmore also took the B Final with the team of Dylan Ling, Cole Griscavage, Jonathan Suh and Benton Greenberg finishing at 1:23.90.

- After winning the prelims earlier in the day, Ham Williams-Tracy earned bronze in the 400 IM with a time of 4:04.73. He was followed by Jacob Sherman in fourth place, who finished with a time of 4:04.87. Finn Conaway also qualified for the finals as he took seventh overall.

- Wilson won the 100 butterfly at 48.50 to earn an NCAA B cut. The first-year fell short of his prelim mark of 48.40, which set a conference, program and school record in the event. Marotte took bronze in the event with a time of 50.05, while Ling was fifth at 50.98. Suh also won the B Final to earn crucial points for the Garnet. 

- Freeman earned an individual gold medal for the second-straight night with a time of 1:39.65 in the 200 freestyle. The junior also earned an NCAA B cut in the event. He was followed by AJ Das, who touched the wall at 1:40.23 to claim a silver medal. Greenberg also qualified for the finals as he placed seventh. 

- Karpenko continued his dominance with his second successful title defense as he defended his championship in the 100 breaststroke. The junior earned an NCAA B cut with a time of 54.75 as he dominated the field. He was followed by Wesley, who earned silver with a time of 55.89. 

- Joey Lukner and Wilson qualified for the finals in the 100 backstroke. Lukner finished fifth at 51.65, while Wilson placed seventh with a 51.89 mark.
