GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The No. 15 Swarthmore College women's swimming team opened the Centennial Championships with the first session on Thursday night. The Garnet competed in the 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays to begin their title defense. 

The Garnet got off to a stellar start as they earned a gold and a silver on the opening night of the championships. Swarthmore also earned three NCAA b-cuts on the night and currently sit in first place in the championship standings. 



HOW IT HAPPENED
- The team of Quinn Weygandt, Georgi Mathews, Kate Hallmark and Elle Anthony took gold in the 800 freestyle with an NCAA b-cut time of 7:34.92.The Garnet also set a pool record and program record in the event. 

- The 200 medley relay of Ashley Wong, Gaby Ma, Cara Lee and Anthony placed second overall in the event. The team earned an NCAA b-cut with a time of 1:43.98 in the event. The team of Kaja Arusha, Sophie Rotival, Annaliese Chen and Ainsley Jane Tambling also posted a b-cut time at 1:44.61 to win the B Finals.

The Garnet return to the pool tomorrow with session two beginning at 10 a.m and session three set to start at 6 p.m. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. for spectators.
