CHICAGO – The No. 21 Swarthmore College men's swimming team battled top national competition at the D3 Shootout hosted by the University of Chicago on Friday and Saturday.
The Garnet placed seventh in the team scoring. Five of the other seven teams that competed are currently ranked in the CSCAA Top 25 Poll.
Cami Wilson was the top standout for Swarthmore, setting a new school record in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.58. He narrowly beat out the previous mark of 20.59 recorded by Alec Lawless in 2020.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wilson's record swim earned him a second-place finish in the 50 free. He also was the runner-up in the 100 butterfly, clocking in at 49.12. Wilson was part of the Garnet's 400 medley and 200 freestyle relays that came in fourth (3:24.62) and fifth (1:23.93) respectively.

Ben Freeman took fourth in a pair of events. He completed the 200 freestyle in 1:41.78 and touched the wall in 4:42.90 in the 500 freestyle. Freeman was also a member of Swarthmore's 800 freestyle relay that placed fifth (6:56.38).

Andrew Karpenko finished fourth in the 200 IM with a time of 1:57.42. He also swam on the 400 medley relay.

Danny Castle posted a time of 1:55.53 in the 200 backstroke, which was good for fifth place. He was also on the Garnet's 800 freestyle, 400 medley, and 200 freestyle relays.
