Blodgett and Trelstad Win Individual Gold, 4x800 Captures Title at Centennial Championships

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's track & field team competed at the second day of the Centennial Championships on Saturday afternoon.

Nora Blodgett and Trelstad both claimed conference titles for the Garnet. Blodgett finished first in the steeplechase, while Trelstad won the high jump. 

Morgan Mouer, Johanna Schubert, Alina Irvine and Rose Teszler also claimed a gold medal in the 4x800m relay.
 


HOW IT HAPPENED
- Blodgett captured the championship in the steeplechase with a time of 11:20.84. The senior beat out second place by one second as she battled through wet conditions. Blodgett was the first Swarthmore female to win the steeplechase at the Centennial Championships.

- Trelstad was crowned high jump champion with a first place finish in the event. They recorded a top jump of 1.58m as they cleared the bar on the second attempt.

- Mouer, Schubert, Irvine and Teszler won the conference championship in the 4x800m relay. The team crossed the finish line at 9:22.29 to beat Franklin & Marshall by one second.

- Adria Retter placed second overall in the discus throw with a top distance of 37.43m to earn a silver medal.

- Emma Chiao took bronze in the heptathlon with 3166 points. The senior was second in the long jump with a 4.64m mark and the 800m run at 2:41.59.

- Krystle Boadi placed third overall in the 100m dash prelims with a 13.26 effort. She also qualified in the 200m dash with a time of 27.07.

- Quinn Basewitz earned the fourth seed in tomorrow's 400m hurdles final. The junior placed second in her heat of the prelims with a personal record of 1:09.04.

- Rose Teszler, Morgan Mouer and Alina Irvine all qualified for tomorrow's 800m finals. Teszler is seeded second, while Mouer and Irvine are seeded fourth and eighth, respectively.


- Alyssa Zhang was ninth overall in the long jump with a top effort of 4.75m.

The Garnet return to action tomorrow for the final day of the Centennial Championships.
