COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's track & field team opened competition at day one of the Centennial Championships on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emma Chiao sits in fourth place with 1975 points in the heptathlon. Chiao finished first in the 200m dash with a time of 28.16. She was fourth in the high jump with a top height of 1.40m and the shot put with a best throw of 8.80m. Chiao also earned a fourth place finish in the 100m hurdles with a 19.96 mark. The senior earned a personal record in the 200m dash and high jump, while matching her top distance in the shot put. 

- Maddie Farber finished ninth overall with a time of 40.18.67 in the 10K run. The junior battled through wet conditions to trim 50-seconds off her previous best. 
- Shay Downey placed just outside the top-10 with a 33.27m throw in the hammer. Elizabeth Agyei also posted a score in the event with a top effort of 27.44m.
