Women’s Track & Field Earns Seven First Place Finishes at Chester Quarry Classic

CHESTER, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's track & field team returned to Widener University as they placed first overall as a team at the Chester Quarry Classic on Saturday.

Morgan Mouer, Nora Blodgett, Jillian Provaznik, Kiara Abbey, Emma Chiao and Emily Trelstad all earned first place finishes to lead the Garnet. Swarthmore also earned a first place effort in the 4x400m relay. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet earned the top-three spots in the 800m run. Mouer won the event with a time of 2:20.87. Alina Irvine narrowly placed second with a mark of 2:20.93, while Johanna Schubert was third at 2:24.63. All three times were personal records. 

- Blodgett won the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:27.05. The mark met qualifying standards for the Centennial Championships. 

- Provaznik won the javelin throw with a top mark of 31.38m. 

- Abbey won the long jump with a top effort of 5.07m. Alyssa Zhang also placed second in the event with a jump of 4.84m. Abbey's distance marked a new personal best.

- Chiao won the triple jump with a best effort of 10.61m. Abbey also collected a second place effort in the event with a mark of 10.42m. Abbey's distance was a personal best, while Chiao collected an outdoor season best. 

- Trelstad won the high jump with a top height of 1.56m. Chiao was third in the event with a jump of 1.36m. 

- Krystle collected a pair of top-three finishes in the 100m and 200m dashes. The junior earned a third place effort in the 100m dash with a time of 13.06, while picking up a second place mark in the 200m dash at 26.34. 

- Elizabeth Agyei placed third in the discus throw with a mark of 27.08m, while Jordyn Bernard was fourth at 25.73m. Agyei was also third in the hammer throw with a distance of 30.67m, while Shay Downey finished second at 33.31m. 

- In addition to finishing fourth in the discus throw, Bernard earned another top-five finish with a third place effort in the shot put with a personal record of 10.09m. 

- Quinn Basewitz was third overall in the 400m hurdles. The junior set a personal best with a time of 1:11.52. 

- Gabby Johnson and Anastasia Erley placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 400m dash. Johnson recorded a time of 1:03.94, while Erley crossed the finish line at 1:05.56.

- Maddie Farber was fifth in the 5000m run with a time of 20:02.01. Charisma Hasan finished behind her teammate in sixth place with a 20:21.09 mark. Both runners set personal bests. 

- Swarthmore's 4x400m relay finished first overall. The team of Boadi, Abbey, Johnson and Mouer recorded a time of 4:03.48.

The Garnet return to Widener University on Saturday.
