Retter and Teszler Qualify for NCAA Championships

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore College women's track & field standouts Adria Retter and Rose Teszler qualified for the Division-III NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, announced on Sunday night by the championship committee.

For each women's individual event contested, including the pentathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition.

Retter qualified for the NCAA Championships in the shot put with the 11th best mark in the nation. The junior recorded her top throw of the season with a distance of 13.92 at the Princeton Indoor Invitational on February 20. Last week, Retter captured the Centennial Conference championships in the shot put and weight throw, respectfully. 

Teszler qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 800m run with the 16th fastest time of all declared participants. The junior recorded a personal record of 2:15.01 in the event at this weekend's Tufts National Qualifier - improving on her previous best by over one second. Last week, Teszler took gold in the 800m run at the Centennial Conference Championships. 

The championships will be held March 11-12 at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, with Visit Winston-Salem and Guilford College serving as hosts.
