Throws Highlight Strong Weekend for Women’s Track & Field

CHESTER, PA. - The Swarthmore College women's track & field team finished off its weekend action at the Widener University Paul Donahue Invitational and the Moravian College Coach Pollard Invitational on Saturday. 

Throws combined for eight top-10 finishes across four events. Lydia Morris-Kliment had the best result of the meet, finishing first overall in the discus throw with a season-best mark. Tate Garcia and Aislinn Comerford placed top-10 in both the shot put and discus. Garcia headlined the duo with a fourth-place effort in the shot put. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
PAUL DONAHUE INVITE 

- Morris-Kliment won the discus throw with a season best of 43.46m, recording the 22nd best throw in Division-III. Brianna Eugene, Garcia and Comerford also placed inside the top-10 in the event. Eugene (36.00m) led the trio with a fifth-place performance, while Garcia (35.91m) followed in sixth and Comerford (34.44m) claimed ninth. Both Eugene and Comerford recorded personal records in the event. 

- Garcia placed fourth in the shot put with a distance of 11.78m. Comerford recorded her second top-10 finish of the meet, throwing a top mark of 10.93m. 

- Amelia Landry placed seventh overall in the javelin throw, recording a top distance of 32.77m. Hannah Swale followed with a 13th-place effort with a distance of 30.16m. 

- Gabby Bredbenner was eighth overall with a 59.30 finish in the 400m dash. The rookie set a new personal record with her first sub-one-minute effort. She later placed 25th in the 200m dash at 26.27, which marked another personal best. Hannah Garrou also ran in the 200m dash with a 26.64 mark. 

- Vivian Molnar was ninth overall in the weight throw with a top effort of 41.33m. Garcia (38.85m) threw in the event to place 14th, while Comerford (37.12m) was 17th overall. 

- Olivia Montini finished towards the top of a crowded 1500m run. The senior placed 13th overall with a time of 4:47.77. 

- Charlotte Martin placed 22nd overall out of 89 runners in the 5000m run. The sophomore crossed the finish line at 18:25.16, cutting approximately 40 seconds off her previous best. 

- Ania Wong raced in the 800m run elite field with a time of 2:21.10, finishing a few seconds off her personal best. 

COACH POLLARD INVITE 
- Kate Reiter and Rebekah Gendler both competed in the long jump, placing 20th and 22nd respectively. Reiter had a top distance of 4.84m, while Gendler recorded a distance of 4.82m.

The Garnet return to action at the Haverford Mid-Week Meet on Tuesday.
