SWARTHMORE, Pa. - No. 19 Swarthmore College Women's Swimming kicked off the championship season as they held its traditional Swarthmore Invitational at Ware Pool this weekend. The two-day event featured a couple top-ten program times and a handful of lifetime bests.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
- On day one,
Kaja Arusha won the 100-back in 58.83, which ranks the sophomore third on the program's all-time list.
Anatasia Erley added a season best time of 1:00.73.
Summer Heidish swam a season personal best of 1:03.68 in the 100-back.
- Daniela Kim swam a collegiate best time of 2:17.68 in the 200-IM. Kim also added collegiate best times in the 100-IM (2:17.68), 100-breast (1:10.08), and 200-breast (2:31.57).
- Sophie Rodner finished the 200-fly in a lifetime best of 2:16.05. Alexa Specht touched the wall of the event in a season best time of 2:16.15.
- Dani Gomez finished the 200-free in 2:07.04, which was a collegiate best time for the senior.
- In the 50-free on Saturday, Arusha added the ninth best time in program history. The sophomore touched the wall in 24.66. Ursula Horn added the tenth best time in Garnet history as she touched the wall in 18:13.87 in the 1650-free.
- In the final event of the day, Riley Thompson anchored the 200-free relay of Heidish, Gomez and Specht to a narrow victory. Thompson closed in on Alex Comaniciu in the final 25-meters to give the relay of seniors the win in 1:44.94.
- This weekend's meet was the final collegiate swim meet for Gomez, Heidish, Specht and Thompson. Head coach Karin Colby and the rest of the swimming programs were grateful to have this opportunity to showcase his commitment and leadership to the program over the last few years.
UP NEXT
The Garnet will compete at the Centennial Conference Championships held at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa. The conference meet will take place beginning on Thursday,February 17th with the conclusion of a team champion being crowned on Sunday, February 20th.
