LANCASTER, Pa. – Swarthmore College Women's Track and Field earned a third-place team finish at the Centennial Conference Championships this weekend at Franklin and Marshall College.
Sydney Covitz won the 800-meter run, while
Clay Conley earned a victory in the shot put event.
Covitz and
Rose Teszler crossed the finish line in first and second place of the 800-meter run. Covitz finished in a time of 2:19.61, while Teszler recorded a time of 2:21.54
Conley added a victory in the shot-put event. They recorded a best mark of 13.29m (43'-7.25"), which is the second straight year the senior has won the event.
Naomi Bronkema finished in fourth place and
Christine Ayoh closed out the top eight competitors. Bronkema notched a mark of 11.44m (37'-6.5"), while Ayoh recorded a toss of 11.00m (36'-1.25").
Phoebe Whiteside notched a fifth-place finish in the mile. The senior crossed the finish line in 5:20.12.
Mirayda Martinez recorded a time of 1:03.33 for an eighth-place finish in the 400-meter run. In the same event,
Laila Kirton added a time of 1:08.03.
Scout Hayashi recorded earned three points for the Garnet as the sophomore finish in sixth place with a time of 9.87 in the 60-meter hurdles. In the finals of the 60-meter dash,
Krystle Boadi crossed with a time 8.26 seconds.
Whiteside crossed the finish line of the 3,000-meter run in ninth place with a time of 10:41.59.
Ella Shenkar added a time of 11:11.70 in the 3K.
Maya Zimmerman concluded the meet with a third-place finish in the pentathlon. The junior earned a first-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 4.69m, second in the shot put with a throw 9.62m and a third-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:46.46.
Johns Hopkins University won the team competition with 262.25 points, while Dickinson College and the Garnet rounded out the top three teams. The Red Devils netted 123.5 points, and Swarthmore finished with 85 points.
