GETTYSBURG, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Swimming finished as the runner-up at the 2019 Centennial Conference Championship, setting many records and personal bests in the process. The Garnet completed the championship with 676 points. Ursinus College repeated as champions with 816.5 points.
Sunday night's session led off with freshman Hannah Kloetzer winning the bronze medal in the grueling 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:34.83 and giving Swarthmore 16 points. Abby Goodman finished in 10th for another seven points for the Garnet.
The Garnet added points in the 200 back as senior Scout Clark finished in fifth with a time of 2:09.36 and Summer Heidish came in 14th for three more Garnet points.
Swarthmore racked up three top-eight finishes in the 100 free. Anna Kottakis came in fourth with a time of 53.09, Anna Lyn was just one one-hundredth of a second behind her for fifth and Sayaka Vaules came in seventh in 53.99 seconds.
In the 200 breaststroke, Swarthmore had four finishers in the top eight. Liz Staton collected bronze (2:25.41), Sophia Lee fourth (2:27.74), Sierra Bienz seventh (2:30.32) and Jenna Bowman eighth (2:30.46).
Gallagher earned a silver medal in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:07.51. Moody finished in eighth with a time of 2:18.56. Sarah Solomon and Alexa Specht came in 10th and 16th.
To close out the competition, the Garnet finished in second place in both heats of the 400 free relay. Vaules, Lyn, Clark and Kottakis took silver with a time of 3:32.32. Heidish, Lee, Moody and Staton came in 10th in 3:38.80.
