Box Score 2 SWARTHMORE, Pa.--Swarthmore College Softball completed its third straight doubleheader split on Saturday's Senior Day versus Muhlenberg College.
In the first game, the Garnet (16-10 overall, 6-6 Centennial Conference) beat the Mules (11-19, 4-8) 10-0 in five innings. Muhlenberg took the second game 4-1.
Junior
Marit Vike went 6-for-8 on the day with three RBIs and four runs scored. Sophomore
Emilie Morse had a 5-for-7 day at the plate.
Game One: Swarthmore 10, Muhlenberg 0 - 5 Innings
The Garnet piled on nine runs in the first inning. Freshman
Victoria Overbeck, junior
Elizabeth Curcio and sophomore
Kennedy Kings all had RBI singles. The big blows were a three-RBI triple from Vike and an RBI double from Morse.
Morse's single in the third that scored Kings would be Swarthmore's only other run.
Senior
Emily Bowman pitched all five innings and improved to 4-4 on the year.
Seven different Garnet players combined for 12 hits.
The win was Swarthmore's largest margin of victory in a conference game this season.
Game Two: Muhlenberg 4, Swarthmore 1
Swarthmore had 11 hits but not much to show for it as a three-run second inning proved to be the difference for the Mules.
The only run for the Garnet came on a Morse double that drove in Vike in the first inning.
Vike stole two bases in the loss, and senior
Frankie Ponziani and sophomore
Marisa Mancini contributed with two singles each.
The Garnet travel to Gettysburg College (14-12, 9-1) for a doubleheader that begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
