SWARTHMORE, Pa.--Nine members of the Swarthmore College men's and women's swimming teams competed at home on Saturday, closing out the 2017-18 regular season with one final invitational. The group of swimmers tallied 22 personal bests and had nine season bests as well.
Seniors
Tiffany Yu and
Philip Decker led the team, each tallying four personal best times in their last collegiate swim meet. Yu recorded a personal best in the 100 back, 50 free, 50 back, and 50 free split on the 200 free relay. Decker posted personal bests in the 50 free, 100 fly, 100 free, and 50 free split on the 200 free relay.
Freshman
Megan Strachan recorded best times in the 500 free (by 13 seconds!), 200 free, 100 free, and 50 free split on the 200 medley relay. Her older sister
Katie Strachan tallied her best times in the 100 breast, 200 breast, and 50 breast split on the 200 medley relay.
Sophomore
Meagan Currie had best times in the 50 back and 200 back while junior
Sierra Bienz marked best times in the 500 free, 100 back, and 50 breast on the 200 medley relay.
Freshman
Barbara Fitzsimmons got faster and faster first marking a best time in the 50 free on the 200 free relay and then later dropping that time on the 200 medley relay. She also recorded season best times in the 50 free and 100 free.
Junior
Kyle Campbell tallied season best times in the 200 IM, 100 fly, and 200 fly.
Swarthmore gears up for the Centennial Conference Championship which runs from Feb. 22-25.
