WELLESLEY, Mass.–The Swarthmore College women's tennis team concluded competition at the Nor'Easter Bowl with a narrow, 5-4 loss to the 30th-ranked Wellesley College Blue on Saturday, April 15.
The Garnet trailed after doubles with the duo of
Anna Scheibmeir and
Emma Kassan picking up the lone point at no. 1 with an 8-6 win. Swarthmore, however, battled in singles as it came down to a three-set match on court three.
Kassan won her second match of the day with a 6-1, 6-3 result at first singles while
Vivien Fernandez followed 6-4, 6-2 in the second spot.
Alli Wong finished strong with a 7-6(5), 6-0 triumph at fifth singles and
Shirline Wee forced a third set at no. 3, but ultimate fell by a 4-6, 6-4, 1-6 score as the hosts eked out an overall win.
Swarthmore returns to conference play on Friday, April 21 when it travels to Muhlenberg College for a 4 p.m. match.
