LANCASTER, Pa.–In its first competition of the New Year, the Swarthmore College women's track and field team performed well at the Coach I Open hosted on the campus of Franklin & Marshall College. Senior multi-sport athlete
Maggie O'Neil took first in the shot put with a throw of 12.79 meters. O'Neil was the only competitor to break 12 meters.
Sophomore
Kayla Camacho earned a runner-up finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.35 while O'Neil was fourth in the weight throw after a toss of 11.49m.
In the 800-meter run, newcomers Louise Rosler and Sydney Covitz made impressive debuts by placing fourth and sixth respectively. Rosler finished in 2:34.42 while Covitz clocked in at 2:34.99.
Natalie McLaughlin finished 10th in the one mile race (5:38.85) while
Rachel Leifield placed ninth in the high jump (1.42m).
Swarthmore returns to action on Jan. 27 at the Widener Field Meet.
