FULL RESULTS
SWARTHMORE, Pa.–Competing against participants from Vassar, Haverford and Division I La Salle, the host Swarthmore College women's tennis team impressed in singles and doubles action at the Swat Invite on Saturday and Sunday, Sep. 10-11.
Freshmen
Vivien Fernandez and
Shirline Wee and junior
Maria Cuervo all finished a perfect 3-0 in their singles matches while
Alli Wong and
May Dong were 2-0. Fernandez and Cuervo won all three in straight sets and Fernandez did not drop more than three games in any set.
Rachel Bronkema,
Ashley Gao,
Julia Gokhberg,
Rachel Hechinger,
Amanda Izes,
Arya Jemal and
Emma Kassan each went 2-1 as Swarthmore compiled a 29-8 mark in singles at the invite.
In doubles, the Garnet won 16 matches while losing only three. Cuervo, Izes, Jemal and
Nicole Khorosh were all 3-0 in doubles action. Teaming with Fernandez and Cuervo, Wong posted 8-1 and 8-0 victories over duos from Haverford and La Salle, respectively, while the pair of Dong and
Sophia Schuster collected two 8-1 victories against their Haverford opponents.
The Garnet will conclude the fall portion of their schedule on Sep. 24-26 when they compete at the ITA Southeast Regional tournament held on the campus of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va.
