FREDERICKSBURG, Va.–Participating at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southeast Regional Tournament on the campus of Mary Washington over the weekend, the Swarthmore College men's tennis team qualified for the semifinals in both the championship singles and doubles draw.
Third-seeded sophomore
Mark Fallati is among the final four players remaining in singles and also reached the doubles semifinal with partner
Josh Powell as the fourth-ranked team at the tournament.
Fallati opened singles action with a tight, 7-6(2), 7-5 victory over Caius Blomqvist of Averett and reached the round of 16 with a win against Washington & Lee's Thomas Harmon. In the third round, the junior from Larchmont, N.Y. prevailed 1-6, 6-2, 6-1 over Jeremy Dubin of Johns Hopkins and qualified for the semis with another three-set victory, this time against Christopher Newport's Justin Cerny.
He is scheduled to face Courtney Murphy of Wilkes University on Monday morning for a berth in the finals and a chance at All-American status as the tournament winner.
In the championship singles draw, Powell also reached the round of 16 before falling to Hopkins' Mike Buxbaum, the top seed, by a 6-2, 6-2 score. Sophomore

The Garnet duos of Fallati/Powell and Oetting and senior
John Larkin reached the round of 16 in the championship doubles flight. Larkin and Oetting grinded out a 9-8(6) win over a team from Carnegie Mellon, but fell 8-4 to Cerny/Reed of Christopher Newport.
Fallati and Powell cruised to an 8-4 win over Hopkins' Dubin and Joseph Carteledge to reach and the quarters and will face the top-seeded team of Vayum Arora and Daniel Levine (Carnegie Mellon) on Monday.

James Hahn won both of his matches before defaulting.
