Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Runs were hard to come by for the Swarthmore College baseball team on Tuesday, Apr. 7 as the homestanding Garnet (16-5, CC 4-3) fell 3-1 to Washington College in a game that lasted just over two hours.
Swarthmore put a run on the board in the second inning when
Gregory Cox, who reached second on a double down the right field line, was driven in by freshman
Cal Barnett-Mayotte. Unfortunately for the Garnet, its offense disappeared and collected only two hits over the remainder of the game, both by
Scoop Ruxin.
The game remained deadlocked at one apiece until the visiting Shoremen used two runs in the seventh to pull ahead. Washington pitcher Dan Jarrell had a strong outing and improved to 4-0 after allowing one earned run in nine innings.
Jackson Ramey picked up the loss for Swarthmore and starter
Henry Cappel took a no-decision with no earned runs and eight strikeouts in six innings of work.
The team will play its fourth consecutive home game when it hosts nonconference opponent DeSales on Wednesday, Apr. 8.
