Box Score COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College baseball team (17-14, CC 4-11) only mustered four hits and two runs as it fell 11-2 to the homestanding Ursinus Bears on Tuesday, Apr. 21.
The Garnet scored runs in the eighth and ninth frames to avoid the shutout, but could not overcome the Bears' 9-0 lead after seven innings.
David Wolfson led the team with two hits and one RBI while sophomore
Ryan Burnett also added an RBI double.
The Garnet first got on the board in the eighth when Burnett drove in
Wesley Fishburn from first with his extra base hit. In the ninth, freshman
Jaron Shrock led off with a walk and advanced to second a bunt by senior
Brian Kaissi. Wolfson's second single of the day found the gap to drive in Shrock for the Garnet's second and final run.
Henry Cappel picked up his second loss of the season after allowing nine runs in 6.2 innings on the mound. The Garnet returns to competition on Wednesday, Apr. 22 at 12:30 p.m. for a non-conference road game at Arcadia.
