Box Score IMMACULATA, Pa. — A midseason slump continued for the Swarthmore College baseball team as the visiting Garnet (16-10) fell 9-2 to Immaculata on Wednesday, Apr. 15. Swarthmore finds itself in the middle of a six-game losing streak after starting the season 16-4.
Sophomore shortstop
Wesley Fishburn and freshman catcher
Jaron Shrock each collected two hits and
David Wolfson brought home a run in his only at bat.
Immaculata used four runs over the first three innings to gain a lead it never relinquished. Although the Garnet got on the board in the fifth inning when Fishburn drove in freshman Joe Jackson with a single up the middle, the Mighty Macs scored the next four runs to put Swarthmore in an 8-1 hole. Wolfson's double in the eighth frame scored
Roy Walker, who pinch ran for
Ryan Burnett, but it was too little too late for the Garnet.
Freshman
Sam Alofsin picked up the loss in his first start of the season after allowing five runs, four of them earned, in five innings on the mound.
Swarthmore returns to Clothier Field to host DeSales on Thursday, Apr. 16 at 4:00 p.m.
