Ian Lukaszewicz and
Andrew Preiser each factored into five goals to propel the Swarthmore College men's lacrosse team to a 16-8 victory over Gordon on Wednesday, March 11 at Great Park.
After Gordon (3-4) scored the game's first goal just one minute into the game, Swarthmore answered back with eight straight to take a commanding 8-1 lead at the break. The Garnet added four more goals in the third and led 12-3 heading into the final quarter, giving themselves more than enough insurance to pull out their third straight win.
Seniors
Ian Lukaszewicz and
Andrew Preiser as well as freshman
Cam Marsh paced the Swarthmore offensive attack with five points apiece, while Lukaszewicz and Marsh found the back of the net four times.
Darrel Hunter, a senior co-captain, caused four turnovers and scooped up three ground balls on the defensive end.
Brothers Michael and Ryan Utz paced Gordon by combining for five goals. Owenn Geis picked up a game-high six ground balls.
Sophomore
Cole Fox picked up the victory between the pipes for Swarthmore (3-1) by making a career-high 16 saves, while Cody Greenwald of Gordon was charged with the loss after turning away only five shots through the first three quarters.
The Garnet will look to extend their winning streak to four games when they face Whittier on Friday, March 13 at 7:00 p.m. PST.
