Supriya Davis and
Kate Wiseman each factored into a pair of record-breaking performances to lead the Swarthmore College women's swimming team to a fifth-place finish at the Centennial Conference Championships on Sunday, Feb. 22 at Gettysburg College. The Garnet finished the meet with 438 points.
Davis won the 200-yard butterfly for the fourth straight year in an NCAA "B" cut time of 2:05.99, while Wiseman matched the feat by capturing the 100-yard freestyle in 51.90 seconds. Wiseman's mark was also a school, conference and meet record in addition to an NCAA "B" cut time. In addition, Davis and Wiseman teamed up with freshmen
Diane Lee and
Ashley Hwang on the 400-yard freestyle relay team which finished second overall in a school-record time of 3:33.77.
Other notable performances in individual events were made by sophomore
Erica Flor and Hwang. Flor placed seventh in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:10.60, while Hwang was fifth in the 200-yard breastroke in 2:27.44.
In a meet that came down to the final event, Ursinus edged out Franklin & Marshall for its second straight team crown with 667.50 points. The Diplomats finished the meet in second with 644 points. Gettysburg, Dickinson, Swarthmore, McDaniel, Washington College and Bryn Mawr rounded out the team standings.
Swarthmore will now wait to see if it will send any competitors to the NCAA Championships , which will take place in Shenandoah, Texas on March 18-21. Davis is eligible in both butterfly events and Wiseman is eligible in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle for recording NCAA "B" cut times over the weekend.

Kate Wiseman won the 100-yard freestyle for the fourth straight year, becoming Swarthmore's second women's swimmer to win the same individual event at the Centennial Conference Championships every year of her eligibility after Davis, who accomplished the feat yesterday in the 100-yard butterfly … Wiseman and Davis combined to factor into eight school records as well as four conference and championship meet records over the weekend.
