Supriya Davis captured her fourth gold medal in the 100-yard butterfly and factored into two school record-breaking relays to help maintain the Swarthmore College women's swimming team's fourth-place standing after the second day of the Centennial Conference Championships at Gettysburg College on Saturday, Feb. 21. The Garnet have accumulated 307 points through 12 events.
Davis, whose winning NCAA "B" cut time of 56.33 in the 100-yard butterfly made her the program's first swimmer to win the same event four years in a row at the meet, also factored into the winning 200-yard medley relay that registered a school and Centennial Conference record time of 1:47.79. Kate Wiseman, freshmen
Maggie Eberts, and sophomore
Erica Flor, captured the Garnet's fourth straight gold medal in the event. Wiseman and Davis also propelled the second-place 800-yard freestyle relay to a time of 7:46.72, breaking the previous record by nearly seven seconds.
Other notable performances were made by Flor, who placed fourth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.58, and freshmen Eberts and
Ashley Hwang, who placed fifth and sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke with times of 1:07.83 and 1:08.46, respectively. Hwang also finished fourth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59:02.
Swarthmore will continue competing at the Centennial Conference Championships tomorrow morning beginning at 10 a.m.
