SWARTHMORE, Pa.- Freshman
Emily Bley swam to her second and third individual wins of the Swarthmore Invitational on Saturday to help lead Swarthmore College women's swimming team to a first place finish among five other schools at Ware Pool. Bley took first in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.09 and 2:15.71, respectively, to go along with her first-place time in the 200 IM (2:18.01) on Friday night.
The Garnet won all three of Saturday's relays, the 200-yard medley and the 400- and 800-yard freestyle relays. The Garnet slipped past Salisbury in the 800 by 1/100 of a second, touching the final timing pad at 8:22.97. The 200-yard medley belonged to the Garnet with a time of 1:55.58. Scout Clark, and Bley took part in both the 800 and 400 freestyle relays, while sophomore
Ashley Hwang started off in the 800 relay, and freshman
Sophie Moody anchored the 400 relay.
Clark also had notable performances in individual events. She took a first place finish in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 18:58.26 and a second place finish in the 400 individual medley, finishing in 4:56.88.
Swarthmore ended the invitational with 936 points, followed by Salisbury University with 847 points. Juniata College (505), Cabrini College (403), Lycoming College (327), and Fashion Institute of Technology (167) rounded out the team scoring.
Swarthmore's next swim meet comes at home at Ware Pool on Dec. 5 when the Garnet face Ursinus College.
