Box Score

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Swarthmore College baseball team dropped a non-conference game to DeSales by a 10-1 score on Wednesday, Apr. 9 at Butz Field.

Swarthmore opened the scoring in the top of the first inning. Freshman Ryan Burnett hit a leadoff  single to right and scored two plays later when senior Nicko Burnett grounded out to second base.

DeSales (10-10), however, took over after that and quickly took a 4-1 lead by sending one run home in the first and plating three more in the second. While keeping Swarthmore's bats quiet, the Bulldogs most notably used a four-run seventh inning to pull away.

Junior Eric Dillard picked up the victory for DeSales and improved his mark to 1-2 after yielding three hits and one run, which was unearned, over seven innings of work. He fanned three and walked only one. Swarthmore freshman Aidan Miller was tagged with the loss and fell to 1-2. He surrendered six hits and six runs, which were all earned, over five frames.

Swarthmore (13-11) resumes Centennial Conference play later this week when it hosts Washington College on Friday, Apr. 11 at 3:30 p.m.
