GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Despite getting 13 saves from senior goalkeeper Jonathan Cohen, the Swarthmore men's lacrosse team fell to #16 Gettysburg by a 14-5 decision on Saturday, Apr. 5 at Shirk Field.

The Garnet held a 9-8 edge in shots attempted in the first quarter, but the Bullets found of the back of the net twice to go ahead 2-0. Senior Henry Tesar and sophomore Jameson Smith each scored to put the hosts ahead.

After Robby Maddux gave Gettysburg  a 3-0 lead, Swarthmore scored two of the game's next three goals to climb back into the game. Junior Andrew Preiser put the Garnet on the board before senior Brendan Conway found Ian Lukaszewicz to make it 4-2 with 5:07 remaining in the second.

Gettysburg (7-3, CC 3-0), however, stormed ahead by netting five goals in a row between the second and third quarters. Five different players scored to pace the balanced attack, while senior Martin Manilla most notably contributed a goal and an assist for two of his game-high six points during the stretch that gave the Bullets a 9-2 cushion to work with and more than enough insurance.

The Bullets had a slight 35-30 edge in total shots and a 39-24 advantage in ground balls. Faceoffs were even at 11 apiece.

Swarthmore (4-6, CC 1-2), which had its two-game winning streak snapped, returns home to host McDaniel on Wednesday, Apr. 9 at 7 p.m.
