Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Swarthmore College softball team dropped the Centennial Conference doubleheader at Haverford College on Thursday afternoon. The Fords took game one by a 3-0 score and the nightcap by a 8-0 score in five innings.

Freshman Jackie Pezzato went 3-for-6 on the day as Swarthmore's (9-22, 1-13 CC) lone multi-game hitter; junior Laurie Sellars went 2-for-2 in the opener. Senior Sarina Lowe (1-7) pitched three scoreless innings in the opener with three strikeouts and allowing three hits for three runs – only one earned.

The teams traded zeros through three innings, but the Garnet made an attempt in the top of the third as Sellars singled for the Garnet's first baserunner and advanced to second on junior Emma Madarasz's groundout. Pezzato then singled to center field to bring home the first run, but the throw beat Sellars to the plate.

Haverford would advance on two Swarthmore miscues in the fourth inning to score twice. The Fords starter Sara Tauriello held the Garnet bats quiet for the rest of the game and a solo home run in the fifth inning gave the home team extra insurance.

In the nightcap, the Fords jumped out to an early 5-0 lead with two runs in the first and three more in the second. Remaining aggressive at the plate against senior Melissa O'Connor (7-9), Haverford added three more runs in the fourth on three hits to complete the sweep.

Swarthmore will conclude the 2014 campaign on Saturday, April 26 hosting Ursinus College and by honoring it's four graduating seniors.
