Box Score 2 SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College softball team saw it's losing streak continue after falling to non-conference opponent Arcadia University on Thursday afternoon from Clothier Field. The Knights recorded shutout victories with scores of 2-0 and 7-0.
Arcadia (11-17) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second in game-two when sophomore Alicia McMahon scored on an error. The Knights got an insurance run in the seventh as sophomore Sara Boyadjis scored on a single down the right field line off the bat of senior Leanda Helms.
Swarthmore (7-15) had two quality scoring chances, but Wilson worked out of a bases loaded, one-out jam in the bottom of the first as junior
Chelsea Matzko was cut down at home and sophomore
Clara Obstfeld struck out swinging. In the fifth, Pezzato had runners on first and second, but flew out to strand her teammates.
Freshman
Jackie Pezzato took the loss after giving up two unearned runs on seven hits and three walks in seven innings, dropping her record to 1-5.
The second game was scoreless until the top of the sixth when McMahon drove in junior Jessica Shotwell and Boyadjis with a bases-loaded single to center. McMahon drove in two more runs as part of a five-run seventh to clinch the sweep for the Knights.
Senior
Melissa O'Connor pitched five scoreless innigns before all seven runs on 11 hits in 6.2 innings of work, dropping her record to 5-5.
Swarthmore will host Eastern University in a one-game makeup on Friday, April 11 at 5:00 p.m., before hosting Centennial Conference opponent Franklin & Marshall on Saturday.
