Maggie Eberts factored into two relay victories and won an individual event to put the Swarthmore women's swimming team in first place among seven scoring schools after the opening session of the Swarthmore Invitational on Friday, Nov. 21 at the Ware Pool.
Eberts handily won her individual event, hitting the wall at 2:16.80 in the 200-yard IM, a full four seconds ahead of the competition. She swam the opening leg of the first-place 200-yard freestyle relay that included sophomore
Erica Flor, freshman
Diane Lee, and senior
Kate Wiseman that finished in 1:43.78. Eberts also swam the breaststroke leg of the the 400-yard medley relay that finished at 4:10.13. Flor and Wiseman contributed to that 400 medley victory as well, along with freshman
Ashley Hwang.
Other notable performers included freshman Sydney Andersen, who finished second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:30.89, and freshman
Jillian Haywood, who hit the wall in 2:21.37 to earn a third-place finish in the 200 IM.
Swarthmore ended the evening leading the field through five events with 230 points, while Salisbury was second with 214 points. Cabrini (161), Juniata (143), Lycoming (83) Fashion Institute of Technology (66), and Ocean County College (54) rounded out the team scoring.
The Swarthmore Invitational concludes tomorrow beginning at 9:30 a.m.
