CC Finals Day 2: Women's Track & Field Earn Three Medals and Two Records

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's track and field team gathered three medals, two program records, and a handful of qualifying marks to highlight the second day of Centennial Conference Championships at Ursinus College.

With eight events scored, the Garnet women stand in seventh place after two days of competition with 25.50 points.

Sophomore Osazenoriuwa Ebose collected gold in the discus throw after covering 40.44 meters (132' 8.00") – the mark sets the school record for third time this season.

On the track, the quartet of freshman Sarah Nielsen, sophomore Liz Tawa, freshman Katie McMenamin and senior Rebecca Hammond set both the meet and school record (9:19.02, 2002) with a 9:12.42 finish in the 4x800-meter relay for the second gold medal on the day.

Freshman Katie Lin collected bronze in the long jump event on a 5.18 meter leap (17' 0") for her college-best mark.

In preliminary heats, McMenamin moves to the finals in the 800-meter run with her 2:19.30 finish. In the 400-meter dash, both sophomore Julia Nee and Lin qualified for finals on Sunday after finishing at 59.34 and 1:00.42, respectively.

Swarthmore will look to collect more medals as the third and final day of competition is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
