COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – In the opening day of the Centennial Conference Championships, the Swarthmore College track and field squads competed in three events from Patterson Field on the campus of Ursinus College.

For the Garnet women, sophomore Zoe Cina-Sklar clocked a personal-best 41:00.01 in the 10,000-meter run. Freshman Shaina Lu vaulted 8 feet and 2 inches to place 10th overall.

Senior Eric Verhasselt competed in the first five events of the decathlon – 100-meter dash (13.49, 388 points), 400-meter dash (57.41, 506 points), high jump (1.55 meters, 426 points), long jump (4.51 meters, 292 points) and the shot put (9.81 meters, 474 points) – totaling 2,086 points.

On the track, senior Jacob Phillips clocked 31:50.45 in the 10,000-meter fun for ninth place overall. Also competing in the event, juniors Dan Kalamarides finished in 32:32.10 and Robert Fain ran 33:22.94 to close out the first day.
