LA CROSSE, Wis. - Rebecca Hammond of the Swarthmore College women's track and field team advances to the 1,500-meter run final round on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. 

Racing in first of two preliminary rounds on Thursday afternoon, Hammond crossed the finish line at 4:36.37 to secure the last spot in the finals. The mark was fifth-best in her heat and 12th-best overall in the event. The 1,500 finals take place on Saturday, May 25 at 3:50 EST. 

This will be Hammond's first appearance in the final round of nationals.
