PHILADELPHIA – Members of the Swarthmore College men's and women's track and field teams participated in this year's Penn Relays held at Franklin Field on the University of Pennsylvania campus.
Freshman Katie McMenamin, sophomore Julia Nee, freshman Katie Lin, and senior Rebecca Hammond ran the legs of the 4x400-meter relay, sprinting to a 4:04.10 fifth-place finish in the Centennial/MAC race on Thursday evening. The mark is on the program's top-10 performance list.
For the nightcap, senior Jacob Phillips competed in the10,000-meter run to finish at 31:00.95 – shaving an outstanding 23 seconds of his previous personal-best time.
Senior Jordan Martinez, senior Matthew Heck, sophomore Erick White and junior Richard Scott teamed up for the 4x400- meter relay, covering the distance in 3:37.62 – the program's best mark in over four seasons.
Both squads will travel to TCNJ this weekend – the last meet before the Centennial Conference Championships hosted by Ursinus from May 3 to May 5.
