BETHLEHEM, Pa. – More records fell on Saturday as the Swarthmore College women's track and field team showcased outstanding marks at the 4th Annual Coach P Open hosted by Moravian College. The meet featured 29 teams and nearly 2,000 entries.
Freshman Katie McMenamin turned up the heat in the 800-meter run to finish first and set a new meet record (2:17.34) and moved into the top-10 performance list for the Garnet. The time also met ECAC qualifying standards.
Sophomore Osazenoriuwa Ebose continued her excellence in the shot put event by breaking the school record for the third time this season and this time by over four feet. Ebose finished first in the event with a 13.28 meter (43' 7.00") throw – also an ECAC qualifier.
On the track, sophomore Julia Nee clocked 1:00.36 in the 400-meter dash to move up the Garnet's performance list. Freshman Sarah Neilsen collected a personal-best 2:21.27 finish in the 800-meter for fifth-place overall.
Senior Becky Painter took second in the 1,500-meter run with a 4:53.89 mark and Emma Saarel (19:00.69) and freshman Jenna Cody (19:05.01) finished fourth and fifth, respectively in the 5,000-meter run.
For the field events, freshman Shaina Lu improved her pole vault mark (2.60m, 8' 6.25") for the program's fifth-best performance.
Swarthmore returns to action on Wednesday, April 17 at Gwynedd-Mercy.
