SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Despite a monster performance from junior Jonathan Molloy, the Swarthmore College men's lacrosse team (0-3) could not overcome a strong fourth quarter from visiting Cabrini, as the No. 12 Cavaliers (2-2) used a 6-0 fourth-quarter scoring advantage to defeat the Garnet 15-7 on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon from Clothier Field Stadium.

Molloy scored a career-high five goals - several of the highlight-reel variety - to lead the Garnet. Senior Wes Marcik added two goals and an assist.

The balanced Cabinri offense was led by Bobby Throp, who also finished with five goals. Corey Elmer finished with two goals and an impressive five assists, while Anthony DiSanzo also recorded a hat trick.

After Molloy scored the final two goals of the third quarter, Swarthmore trailed just 9-7 and possessed all the momentum entering the final period of play. But just like in last year's contest from Radnor, the highly-ranked Cavs dominated the fourth quarter to pull out the victory. Cabrini out-scored Swarthmore 6-0 in the fourth quarter, with three of the goals coming from Throp. The Cavs were aided by Garnet miscues in the fourth, as five Swarthmore penalties results in three Cabrini up goals.

In goal for the Garnet, junior Jonathan Cohen made 15 saves, including several point-blank chances to keep Swat in the game. For Cabrini, Erick Zarzecki knocked away 10 shots.

The Garnet jumped in front thanks to man-up goals from Marcik and Molloy. Swarthmore took a 2-1 lead heading into the second period, but the Cavs answered with six scores in the period to swing the momentum and jump ahead 7-4 heading into halftime.

In the third quarter, the Garnet defense was able to slow down the high-paced Cabrini offense to get the team back into the contest. With the defense doing its part and Cohen denying the Cavs on multiple occasions, Molloy was able to ignite the Swat offense all by himself. The junior tallied three unassisted goals in the period to cut the deficit to 9-7 heading into the final period.

Unfortunantly for the Garnet, the Cavaliers were able to get back in rhythm in the fourth, capitalizing on multiple Swarthmore penalties to win the game going away.

Marcik led Swarthmore with seven ground balls. Junior Geli Carabases led the defense with two caused turnovers and two ground balls. Senior Steve Selverian won five of seven face-off attempts.

Swarthmore heads to Southern California for Spring Break. Its first contest of break is scheduled for Wednesday at Whittier ( 7:00 PST).
