CHESTER, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's track and field team continued its outdoor season Thursday and Friday at the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener University.
Day One Recap
Senior Emma Saarel got things rolling with an 18:57.18 finish in the 5,000 meter run - a time good for sixth overall. Sophomore Zoe Cina-Sklar (19:58.84) and freshman Sophia Frantz (20:23.67) also competed in the event.
Osazenoriuwa Ebose finished with a 33.19 meter discus mark for seventh overall.
Day Two Recap
Among the Swarthmore competitors, the women's team racked up four top-15 marks in the 800 meter run; senior Rebecca Hammond (2:18.70, 3rd) good for a program top-10 performance, freshman Katie McMenamin (2:20.37, 5th), freshman Sarah Nielsen (2:22.77, 9th) and sophomore Liz Tawa (2:26.64).
The Garnet's 4x400 relay squad clocked 4:12.10 in the first of two heats to take third place overall.
In the field, freshman Shaina Lu bettered her pole vault mark of earlier this season (2.29 m) for a 2.55 meter (8' 4.25") finish on Saturday.
Ebose finished the trio of throw events with an 11.67 meter (38' 3.50") mark in the shot put for third overall and sent the javelin 26.27 meters (87' 9") to better her previous toss of the season and set a new top-10 performance mark in the program's record books.
Swarthmore returns to competition on Thursday, April 5 at Distance Night hosted by Princeton.
