LANCASTER, Pa. - A record-setting relay set the tone for the Swarthmore women's swim team on Saturday, as the Garnet stayed in a close fifth on the second day of the Centennial Conference Championships at Franklin & Marshall.
Leading off the evening session, junior Rebecca Teng, freshman Nikkia Miller, and sophomores Supriya Davis and Kate Wiseman teamed up to swim a blistering 1:48.81 in the 200 medley relay, breaking the school, championship, and Conference record.
The victories did not stop there for the Garnet, as Davis followed up two events later with a dominant win and a NCAA B-cut time in the 100 butterfly. Her finals time of 57.10 was bested only by her morning prelims time of 56.88.
Miller also scored well for Swarthmore, winning a silver medal in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.13), and Wiseman swam to a very close fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:55.41). Junior Margaret Regan earned bronze in the 400 IM (4:43.77); she has now medaled in the event in three consecutive championship meets, having won gold in both her freshman and sophomore seasons. Freshman Eva Winter swam a strong 100 breaststroke, taking fifth in 1:08.53.
The meet continues tomorrow morning at 10 am, and will conclude with an evening finals session at 6 pm.
