Women's Swimming Finishes Fifth at Championship Meet; Davis Named Most Outstanding Female Performer

LANCASTER, Pa. - Led by sophomores Supriya Davis and Kate Wiseman, more records fell on Sunday as the Swarthmore College women's swim team battled its way to a fifth-place finish at the Centennial Conference Championships hosted by Franklin & Marshall.

Gettysburg College won the conference title with 633 points followed closely by Ursinus College with 626 points. The Garnet placed fifth with 478 points, which was just 20 points behind fourth-place Dickinson College.

Davis finished the meet with seven medals, four of which were gold, and won the meet's Female Most Outstanding Performer award for the second consecutive year.  On Sunday, she won the 200 butterfly in 2:07.53, qualifying for NCAA DIII Nationals for the second time this weekend.

Wiseman totaled six medals, equaling her teammate's haul of four golds.  In her final individual race of the season, she broke the Swarthmore and the Conference Championship record in the 100 freestyle, swimming a 52.59 to become the first Garnet woman ever to break 53 seconds in the event.

Davis and Wiseman also teamed up with junior Erin Lowe and freshman Nikkia Miller to take silver in the 400 freestyle relay, splitting 52.24 and 51.99 respectively to lead a Garnet comeback.

Other A-final swims from Sunday's session included junior Margaret Regan's bronze-medal swim in the 200 breaststroke (2:27.95), senior Hannah Gotwals' sixth-place finish in the 200 butterfly (2:13.47), Lowe's eighth-place swim in the same event (2:15.13), and freshman Eva Winter's eighth-place showing in the 200 breaststroke (2:32.38).
