HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's track and field team put together a handful of season-best marks at the Keogh Invitational in the last tune-up before the Centennial Conference championships next weekend.
Rebecca Hammond led the Garnet in the mile event with a first-place time of 5:01.67 – the program's second-best mark. Becky Painter (5:21.73, 5th), Liz Tawa (5:28.33, 9th), Kate Crowley (5:50.15) and Maisie Wiltshire-Gordon (6:00.15) all finished with season-best marks in the mile.
Freshman Sarah Nielsen stormed past the competition in the 800-meter run clocking 2:23.49 for second place, also her season-best. In the 3,000-meter run a trio of Garnet runners finished in the top-10 – junior Emma Saarel (11:07.07), sophomore Zoe Cina-Sklar (11:56.57) and freshman Sophia Frantz (12:02.71).
Swarthmore took first place in the 4x400-meter relay clocking 4:13.81, also a season-best.
For the pole vault, freshman Shaina Lu set a new season-best with 2.59 meter launch and Osazenoriuwa Ebose finished second in the shot put with her 11.82 meter throw.
The Garnet will next compete at the conference championships beginning February 22nd at Ursinus College.
