Women's Track & Field Finishes 13th Overall at NYU Team Challenge

NEW YORK – The Swarthmore College women's track and field team were back in action Saturday night at the Armory for the NYU Team Challenge, totaling 12 team points to finish 13th overall in the team standings.

Nine total points were collected in the mile run as senior Rebecca Hammond took second (eight points) place after pacing 5:02.46. Her mark stands as second-best in program history and hits the ECAC qualifying time. Katie McMenamin – also in the mile run – finished eighth overall at 5:15.17 for one point and the fourth-best program time.

Freshman Jenna Cody ran the program's sixth-best time in the 3,000-meter at 10:28.13 – an ECAC qualifying time. She placed sixth overall and gathered three points for the Garnet.

Amy Amuquandoh competed in the 200-meter (28.91) and 400-meter (1:04.97) along with teammate Katie Lin, finishing in those events at 28.94 and 1:05.70, respectively.

Elsewhere on the track, the 4x400-meter relay team of Hammond, Sarah Nielse, Liz Tawa and McMenamin fell just short of scoring points at 4:21.13 for ninth place overall.

Swarthmore will return to action on Wednesday, January 23rd at the Ursinus Pentathlon.
