SWARTHMORE, Pa. - A Saturday afternoon showdown between two of the Centennial Conference's soccer powers did not disappoint, as the No. 14/18 Swarthmore College men's soccer team (5-1-1, 1-0-1) and the No. 13 Dickinson Red Devils (6-1-1, 1-0-1) battled to a 1-1 draw from Clothier Field Stadium.

In a match that had no shortage of dramatic plays, junior Joe Keedy provided the biggest thrill to the large crowd of Garnet supporters when he scored the first goal of his collegiate career on a header in the 89th minute to send the match into overtime.

Javier Mena scored for the Red Devils in the 73rd minute.

The well-played, physical match was back-and-forth for the first 70 minutes of action until the Red Devils broke through in the 73rd minute. Following a Garnet turnover in the midfield, reigning Centennial Conference Player of the Week Alred Hylton-Dei recovered the ball and began the counter-attack. With a two-on-one advantage, Hylton-Dei passed off to Mena at the top of the box. The senior's wonderfully-taken shot curved into the upper-righthand corner of the goal to put Dickinson ahead 1-0.

Down 1-0, the Garnet pushed forward in hopes of an equalizer. Freshmen David Geschwind (75th) and Alec McClean (82nd) both missed just high on clean looks, while junior Jack Momeyer (77th) and senior John Pontillo (88th) both put shots on target but were turned away. With 61 seconds to go, it appeared as if all was lost for Swarthmore until Keedy came to the rescue. From the right of the box and seven-yards out, the striker netted his first collegiate goal in the waning moments -- thanks in part to a perfect service into the area from junior Jake Weiner -- to send the match into overtime.

Riding the momentum of Keedy's strike, Swarthmore completely dominated play in the first 10 minutes of extra time. Momeyer nearly ended it in the 95th minute of play, but his shot sailed just wide. Junior Noah Sterngold almost struck gold twice on free kicks, missing just a few inches high in the 98th minute and nailing the crossbar in the 100th minute.

In the second overtime, the pace of played slowed significantly as the two tired squads battled to the draw. Sterngold again had the Garnet's best scoring chances, missing wide right in the 106th minute and putting the ball on target on a last-gasp free kick in the 110th minute.

With the draw, Swarthmore remains unbeaten in its last six matches against nationally-ranked opponents.

In goal for the Garnet, junior Peter Maxted made two saves. Dickinson's Cody Hickok finished with four saves.

Swarthmore  returns to action on Thursday with a trip to Allentown to face perennial-power Muhlenberg. Play is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
